The sale, possession and use of Stun Guns or Tasers for self defense are legal without major restrictions. However the misuse of any stun device during the commission of a crime or assault can result in criminal liability.
The sale and possession of stun gun and Taser devices are legal in Kansas. Most people may purchase, openly possess, or use a non-lethal stun gun for self-defense without obtaining a permit. However it is illegal to carry a concealed Stun Gun or Taser on your person without a concealed weapons permit unless you are on your own property.
Kan. Stat. § 21-6301. Criminal use of weapons
(a) Criminal use of weapons is knowingly:

(2) possessing with intent to use the same unlawfully against another, a dagger, dirk, billy, blackjack, slungshot, dangerous knife, straight edged razor, stiletto or any other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument of like character; . . .

(h) "Weapon" means . . . (9) any electronic device designed to discharge immobilizing levels of electricity, commonly known as a stun gun.
